Description / Abstract:
This standard applies to establishments where pulp, paper, and
paperboard are manufactured and converted. This standard does not
include safety recommendations with regard to logging and
transportation of logs to the mill. Nor does it list specific
information on subjects such as illumination, guards for mechanical
power-transmission apparatus, or other subjects that are covered in
detail in the standards listed in 1.4. Where these standards apply
to pulp, paper, and paperboard mills and converters, they shall be
considered part of this standard.
Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to establish minimum requirements necessary to safeguard the health and safety of people and the safety of property.
